SURF OBSERVATIONS
Not Supergreen -- 12/17/98

"Supergreen", Ruby Rod, "The Fifth Element"

Had to release from the work crunch, so I squeezed in a short, Thursday afternoon sesh. For various reasons (NS too big, time constraints, winds), I decided to take a crack at the Westside. Unfortunately, it just wasn't happening.

After much deliberation, I decided to give it a go at, of all the Mickey Mouse kiddie places, Green Lanterns. It was choppy, onshore, and inconsistent, with warpy backwash on the inside and crumbly walls on the outside. Talk about a bad call!

As always, I tried to make the most of it. Had one ride where I actually did a slight invert on my bodyboard, but got blown up on impact. On another, I tried a forward belly-spin off the backwash, and actually over-rotated with my legs awkwardly drawn up in a side-saddle position. Kook!

Couldn't eck out much more out of the conditions. However, as bad as it was, it still provided enough respite to refresh.

P.S. To decipher the cryptic title, watch the movie "The Fifth Element."

Aloha from Paradise,
stickman
