SURF OBSERVATIONS
Old Dog -- 1/22/00

Mediocre waves prevailed

It was an unremarkable session, to say the least.

Surf was about shoulder-high on the average, windswept and out of the north. The Ehukai sandbar just wasn't groomed very well, making for soft spots and funky walls.

Hordes of shortboarders came out of the woodworks, jumping on anything rideable. Both locals and visitors alike were all over the lousy waves, possibly getting in some water time between big swells.

I had a poor go-out, with no outstanding rides to speak of. I tried in earnest to pull the backflip thingy, but just could not turn it around. Man, I haven't mastered a new maneuver in years. Guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Arf!

Aloha from Paradise,
stickman
