SURF OBSERVATIONS
Diamond Head Days -- 5/28/00

D-Head Dribbler

One of my baselines for quantifying the quality of summer seasons is to see how many times I'm forced to surf at Diamond Head. Mind you, the surf out there can get pretty solid. However, given any amount of swell, we usually target one of the many other good surf breaks dotting the island.

Well, it's still May and I once again had very few other options than to take that long walk down the hill, and longer paddle out to Diamond Head Lighthouse.

This time, the surf was only waist-high with poor form. Just futted around for a couple of hours just to get some workout, then paddled in, refreshed, but slightly unsatisfied. Still looking for that big one to light up the South Shore. Maybe next week...

Aloha from Paradise,
