SURF OBSERVATIONS
Puerto Rico Surfer -- 5/28/04

Puerto Rico Surfer (note the reef shoes)

Date: May 28, 2004
Time: 0930 -- 1130
Spot(s): Cliffs
Conditions: Strong onshore, pretty empty
Swell: Small south pulses with mostly windswell
Surf: 2-3' Haw'n

Words: Met up with Lance from Puerto Rico, a surfer I met through Buddy's bulletin board. I picked him up in Waikiki and we drove to Sandy Beach to do a little bodyboarding. Just wasn't happening, so we decided to surf Diamond Head.

Through all that driving, we talked story quite a bit, mostly about Puerto Rico. I have fond memories of the place and Lance helped me remember why I love and dislike Puerto Rico (mostly love).

Anyway, I drove back home to grab my longboard and met Lance late at the lookout. Cliffs was windy-windy-windy. Tiny south pulse seemed to be coming through at times, but mostly windswell.

We made the most of it, catching a few bigger sets and long rides. Nothing special, but it was satisfying.

Its cool meeting another cyber-friend. We had a lot more in common than even I expected. I hope to one day go back to Puerto Rico.

Aloha from Paradise,
stickman
