SURF OBSERVATIONS
Victory at Sea -- 11/14/04

Would you go out?

Date: November 14, 2004
Time: 0600 --0930
Spot(s): Pipeline
Conditions: Gusty side-onshore trades, nobody out
Swell: All over but more from the NNW
Surf: 4-6' Haw'n

Words: A front passed through the islands, kicking up the winds and causing victory at sea conditions. Didn't matter for this weekend warrior. I was out there.

Although it looked horrible from shore, there was a little bit of semblance of ridable waves when you got to the lineup. I was very deliberate and cautious out there, and managed to snag a few big drops.

Was riding my new Custom X Vice bodyboard, which had a reverse channel down the middle of the board. It'll take me a while to get used to the unusual bite it makes on turns, but it feels like a solid board.

A couple of other guys ventured out, but they didn't stay for long. It was quite unruly. But at least I got my exercise, if not my usual wave count.

Aloha from Paradise,
stickman
