SURF OBSERVATIONS
Golden Funnels -- 4/8/06

There were some chunky ones

Date: April 8, 2006
Time: 0545--0730
Spot(s): PL/BD
Conditions: Rainy, dirty, but pretty clean
Swell: Rising WNW with a strong tradewind crossup
Surf: 2-4' Haw'n

Words: Dawned it this morning. Maybe 2-4' but trying. West swell with firm NE side swell.

Went to the premier of David Hubbard's Boogie Nation and got all fired up to mimic all the great riding from the video (in my dreams, of course). Surf was forecast to be solid, but I honestly was somewhat disappointed with the reality.

The tradewind crossup, forced us to look for those pockets to take off on. I got a few really nice ones, including a couple barrels that opened straight into the rising sun (golden funnels).

However, one of the waves axed my back as I was leaving the tube and I heard the vertebrae crack. Lower back went warm. Scary!

Besides that, it was a pretty fun session

Aloha from Paradise,
