RETURN

There are three elements to successful and confident surfing and water photography. Need to have faith in your equipment, your physical abilities, and your mental strength. Due to my debilitated physical abilities, I've totally lost confidence and nerve. As the body improves, need to rebuild confidence in my mind. Maybe I'm over the big stuff. Time will tell.

Unknown, Pipeline, 1/10/14. Eight weeks and one day after my freak tib-fib fracture, I finally got to shooting in the water. Ankle was still stiff and weak, but getting better with rehab. Heavy ocean morning sickness and waves smaller than expected, but it was sooo nice being back in the water.

Unknown, Westside, 1/19/14. Shot at a heavy Westside shorebreak, starting to get used to the intensity in the water. Not big, but exciting nonetheless.

Unknown, OTW, 2/5/14. I wanted to swim out and shoot from the lineup, I really did. However, discretion is the better part of valor. Not ready yet.

2/11/14: Last day of PT. Marco gave good guidance on how to continue strengthening my ankle. Next plan is to follow up with Performance Rehab Ortho (or PRO). Still can't run or even hop on bad foot, but so much better than before. The journey continues.

Summer 2014: Just a few more comments. Did PRO till the end of May. Helped push me to keep training it. I can actually jog and almost run on it, but need to give it more time. Finally, if you want to see what kind of work was done to me in the operating room, check out this footage of Travis Pastrana in January (caution, very graphic): ,Travis Pastrana tib-fib operation
